Salut!

Finally, I've finished my university studies, but I am still not 100% recovered.

Will start commenting on your art soon.

To Lebanon:

How wondrous this snow
It writes on the earth with warm ink.

Here I see with my two eyes
How a pond called the future evaporates.

A people bewitched
with a history written with chalks of illusion
Its day is raw
Its night half-cooked.

Understand me, my homeland, understand me
I cannot defend you
except with my wings.

-Adonis

Salut!

Recommended film: Hotel Rwanda (2004), Terry George
Trailer: [link]

Ten years ago some of the worst atrocities in the history of mankind took place in the country of Rwanda--and in an era of high-speed communication and round the clock news, the events went almost unnoticed by the rest of the world. In only three months, one million people were brutally murdered. In the face of these unspeakable actions, inspired by his love for his family, an ordinary man summons extraordinary courage to save the lives of over a thousand helpless refugees, by granting them shelter in the hotel he manages.

Salut!

Recommended film: Offside (2006), Jafar Panahi
Trailer: [link]

Shot with a 35mm, at the actual game and with non-professional actors.

In director Jafar Panahi's offbeat Iranian tale, several girls find themselves arrested after posing as boys to sneak into a soccer stadium to see a key international qualifying match. It's illegal for Iranian women to attend sports events, so the gate-crashers end up in a holding pen waiting for authorities. But a sympathetic guard watching through a peephole describes the action for the girls, who are eager to know what's happening in the game.

"It would be great if the people got to hear your melodies," the wanderer tells the flutist. But the flutist knows better: "They are busy quarreling and weeping." he says.
-Nagib Mahfouz "Asda' al-Sira al-Dhatiyya".

"Every generation has a particular fate, and our fate, we the sons of Egypt, is that our ambitions were greater than our possibilities. We stepped forward but we found no ground underneath us; we lifted our heads to touch the clouds and the sky disappeared from above us. And at the very moment we divined the truth of our time our leader deserted us with his death right when we needed him. "
-Yusuf al-Qaid "Al-Harb fi Barr Misr".
